Greetings TWU Local 260 Members

I would like to begin by saying “thank you” to each and every one of you, for your continued support, and a job well done.  The accomplishments in 2014 could not have been a success without the team effort from all of you.

I would also like to be the first to share with you that the Executive board have elected to move forward with Metro to start Contact Negotiations early.  Should you desire additional information or have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me.

Because our ambition is to focus on the needs and concerns of the Union Membership, we would like to hear your inputs concerning Contract Negotiations for 2015.  You may voice your inputs by visiting with your Facility Stewards and/or contacting the Union Office.

Become, an informed Union Member, by attending regularly scheduled Meetings every 4th Saturday.  The next scheduled Union Meeting is tentatively scheduled for January 24, 2015 and the next Stewards Training Class will be Saturday January 10, 2015.  Please make plans to attend our first Meeting of the year!

Again, I sincerely thank you all, and I look forward to an even grander year in 2015!  Happy New Year and may we all be prosperous, together!

TWU Texas State Conference Community Service Project

On Saturday, August 23, 2014, The TWU Texas State Conference went to the Houston Food Bank (HFB) to volunteer as a part of our commitment to making a difference in our community through community service.  As a state conference, it is important to stay politically active, and make a difference in working families households.  To make a difference also means to give back to our communities.

The HFB is a nonprofit organization that collects and distributes food to hunger relief charities. The food that is distributed usually comes from various sources and wholesalers that have thousands of food to give away that would normally be thrown away. The HFB uses this partnership to further their mission to end hunger in the areas they serve.  Their belief is that no one should ever go wanting for food in a country so rich in resources.  In the fiscal year 2013-2014 the HFB distributed 59 million nutritious meals, food, and other necessities.  By the year 2018, the mission is to distribute 100 million meals and necessities to those in need.

Thank You, Brother John Bland, Terry Daniels, and Andrew Rangolan for your support and hard work at the HFB. The support received from TWU Local 260, Local 556, and their families and friends is greatly appreciated.

Thank You TWU International for your support!

In Unity,
 TWU Texas State Conference Chair
 LaTonia Benoit
